Inner Mean Girls Tea Party

Original air date: Monday, April 13, 2015
Mean Girl Party

We are so excited to welcome the authors of Reform Your Inner Mean Girl, Amy Ahlers and Christine Arylo to chat with us at Pop Conscious! They’ll share steps to help us stop bullying ourselves and how to get to know our inner mean girls and what they want so we can bring them over from the dark side. Identifying these archetypes for transformation can be creative and fun. Party over here!

Just like we used to have tea parties with our imaginary friends, today on Pop Conscious we’ll host a tea party for our INNER FRENEMIES, our shadow selves, refereed by the authors of Reform Your Inner Mean Girl, Amy Ahlers & Christine Arylo, we’ll learn how to work together for wholeness and happiness.

Inspire instead of torture ourselves with comparisons

The end to outer mean girls has to also include an end to inner mean girls.

Expectation and the Unexpected

Pop culture is where many of us get our ideas about how life should be, but many of the best-loved stories are based in the unexpected. Stacy and Malayna will take a look at the TV shows, films, and songs that informed their expectations, and some of the places they look for when those expectations seem frustrated. How can we prepare ourselves to expect the unexpected, when by definition, it can’t be done? Just remember, “No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!”

NOTES for further contemplation!
Monty Python – On several occasions throughout the above mentioned sketch, an English townsman says “I didn’t expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition” in retort to a woman’s incessant questioning, which would prompt a group of men dressed in Spanish Catholic robes to storm into the house and proclaim “Nobody expects a Spanish Inquisition!
The movie Sliding Doors (Gwyneth Paltrow, John Hannah, 1998) – references it – and that whole movie is about the expected versus the unexpected!
Unexpected Plot Twists in Film:
•    Planet of the Apes
•    Sixth Sense
•    Shawshank Redemption
